VISTA directors take a hike
Three board members and the executive director of VISTA decided to walk the talk and covered several sections of the Tuck Lake trail from Tuck Lake to Francis Lake in mid-September. Gil Parker, Bill Feyrer, Andy Ogle, and Pat Morris also hiked short sections of the Runners Trail that links Francis Lake to the Alberni Inlet.
Why go? For all of us, it was a chance to check out all the work that has been done this summer and last to create this important link between Cowichan Lake and the Alberni Inlet.
We found our trail signs, posted at entrances to the trail off logging roads, and the fluorescent orange markers were excellent guides on most sections. The parts of the Runners Trail we saw were also in pretty good shape and well defined. Above, Bill and Gil check out a key bridge on the Runners Trail.
