Trail Usage has Surged during the Pandemic
Trail usage in the US last year, coincident with the pandemic, has risen in the order of 50%. This is based on sample data from 14 trail counters. We have seen similar increases in usage here on Vancouver Island based on anecdotal reports from several of our volunteers.
Trails are clearly a great place to get exercise and relief from the stresses of the pandemic while at the same time being able to avoid gatherings of people and maintain social distancing (although there have been notable exceptions).
