Temporary Trail closure between Humpback trailhead and the Goldstream R bridge

A short section of the TCT/Great Trail is currently closed because of an unstable rockslope above the trail – work appears to be ongoing to make the trail safe for hikers.

The closure is to the south of the suspended bridge over Goldstream River – between Waugh Creek and the Goldstream, as shown on the map below.

Hikers have been finding their way around the closure, either along the trail itself or along the adjacent railway right-of-way.  However, hikers should be especially careful if the remedial work is on-going while they are in the area.

The Goldstream bridge is not directly affected, nor is any of the section of trail along Niagara Main to the north of the bridge, although a trail closure sign (warning sign) is situated towards the north end of Niagara Main.
